Its 35.5 - 46 Degrees F on the Moon Today

So says my FLIR.
Really. i didnt expect it to be able to instantly read the temperature of an object 300,000 miles away, but here you have it in black and white.

What could it be reading if not the moon? Say the range of the FLIR is 200 miles or whatever, less than 300,000 miles. It has to be something in that area of space in my line of sight to the Moon as the temperature goes from -12 all around the object and jumps to above 35 when the crosshairs overlap it.

Temperature is minus twelve all around.
46 degrees.

Interesting observation! However, FLIR isnt really reading the Moons surface. it can only sense infrared from nearby objects and the atmosphere. The -12F is just the cold sky background, while the jump to 35F when the Moon is in view is your device misinterpreting the Moons extra infrared glow as a nearby warm object. Was wondering about this same thing a while back with mine
Thats the best reason ive heard. You must have done research. Do you recall a maximum distance? Do you have a flir One?
